As I was going about programming the levels for Ito, I came across an interesting problem: I can't fit the whole level in a single room! ("Rooms", for those who aren't familiar with Stencyl (or any alike programs), are places that the game is currently taking place, usually in the form of a level, though they also make up other aspects such as the main menu, or can even relate to cutscenes!) Trying to fill up a room can take up a LOT of space, and unfortunately, Stencyl can only zoom out so far, which makes trying to view everything in the same place extremely difficult and hard to follow.
Look at this, you think I can focus on the level with this much to work with?
I'm trying to make a cave system happen, but the problem is that I don't want the levels to be too short here. (Which is funny, seeing how crunched for time I'm at right now.)That means having to make a lot of stuff to put down (for something that's going to be a short game anyway), and that means having to make levels large enough to be a certain length. And that means losing yourself and/or not seeing the entire map all at once.
So what is the solution to this task? Make more rooms! That way, I can focus on making smaller levels in a larger quantity, and therefore be able to see what's going on with the levels while still getting some level design down.
